Honda entered the private jet market with an explosive bang when they introduced the original HondaJet. The engines mounted over the wings provide a trademark look as well as a quiet cabin, while the sleek design of the fuselage gives the HondaJet immense curb appeal. The HondaJet 2600 represents a new line for the manufacturer while building upon their growing legacy to deliver a stunning competitor to the light jet market.

Originally designed as a concept, in June of 2023 Honda announced plans to make the HondaJet 2600 a reality. Slated for a 2028 release, the HondaJet 2600 will be here before we know it!

Cockpit

Cockpit

The HondaJet 2600 has one of the smartest and best designed flight decks in the world. It features incredible safety advantages such as Runway Overrun alerts and complete autoland. This ensures safety above all else. The flight deck also features autothrottles and augmented steering assistance, making piloting as simple as can be.

The features are state of the art, as mentioned above, along with multi functional displays and autobrakes, the flight deck is highly advanced. However, the biggest draw of the HondaJet 2600 might just be simple paperwork; the plane is certified for single pilot operations. This is huge. It cuts costs for owners who don’t need to have two pilots, although safety wise two pilots is better than one, but it also allows pilot-owners to fly their own plane.

Performance

Performance

The HondaJet 2600 will be powered by dual Williams FJ44-4C engines. These engines are supposed to deliver up to 40% better fuel efficiency than same size competitors according to Honda. They also tout the aircraft is being able to beat mid-size jets by 20%! The HondaJet 2600 will have a max certified ceiling of Flight Level 470 (47,000 ft). This enables the aircraft to fly above almost any weather, providing for a smooth ride. The range will be more than 2,600 nautical miles, making any destination reachable!

Conclusion

Conclusion

The HondaJet 2600 was originally a concept that will now see the light of day thanks to the continued success of the mainline HondaJet. The 2600 undoubtedly features longer range, higher speeds and more power. The allure of being a single pilot operated bird that can potentially fly transcontinental will definitely be a massive selling point. Look for the HondaJet 2600 to take flight in 2028!
